AUTISM & FETAL BEHAVIOR STUDY
Researchers at Women & Infants Hospital and Brown University are studying signs of autism spectrum disorders in the fetal and newborn periods.
If you have a child with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD, autism, PDD-NOS, Asperger’s) AND you are pregnant, then you may be eligible to participate. Call the Autism & Fetal Behavior Study at (401) 453-7637, or email us at [email protected].
What is the Study of Social Anxiety in Asperger’s Disorder?
This is a research study that will evaluate how children with Asperger’s Disorder and social anxiety become anxious in social situations.
The evaluation is free of charge and involves no medication.
Who can participate?
Your child may be eligible for the study if he or she meets the following criteria:
- Is between 8 and 12 years of age
- Has symptoms of social anxiety
- Has symptoms of social anxiety AND Asperger’s Disorder

AUTISM CRY STUDY
Researchers at Women & Infants Hospital and Brown University are studying the very early signs of autism. This study compares the cries of children with typical development with those who may have autism.
Do you have a child with autism or ASD? Do you have a videotape of him or her fussing or crying when he or she was a baby?
You may be eligible for this study.
You can participate by mail, right from your home. We will return your videotape to you (we can also make a DVD copy for you).
WHAT IS THE STUDY?
This study aims to identify signs of autism in early infancy. Our researchers will analyze home recordings of cry sounds made by babies who later receive a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Families of children with autism may be eligible to participate. We are seeking home videotape recording of children 6 and younger.
WHERE DOES THE STUDY TAKE PLACE?
The study will take place at the Brown Center for the Study of Children at Risk, in Providence, RI. BUT YOU CAN PARTICPATE RIGHT FROM YOUR HOME! We will make copies of the videotapes that you share, and then we return them to you. We can send you a DVD copy as well. Help us learn the early signs of autism
